Established in 1999 to promote the sharing on knowledge among European vitreoretinal and macula specialists. EURETINA actively promotes new diagnostic developments, advances in vitreoretinal surgery, the development and application of new drugs and changes in the treatment of macular degeneration.

The Society is particularly committed to educating young vitreoretinal surgeons and encouraging the pursuit of its subspecialty among newly qualified ophthalmologists.

The three-and-a-half-day conference consisted of a scientific programme with regular main sessions updating delegates on all the latest developments in retinal surgery & technology along with instructional courses, a world retina day where other retina societies from around the world were responsible for the programme as well as a mini programme dedicated to young retina specialists & an extensive industry exhibition.
